How to organize

Ok so you've started collecting your coupons what now? You go into the grocery store with an envelope full of the slippery little bugger and cant find the one you need when you get the product. How frustrating is that. This is what I do. I started out with a 1 inch binder. I bought some baseball card holder pages. Each page has 9 slots. I printed off some pages from another blog I follow called krazycoupon lady (the link will get you to the category sheets you can print)  these are 36 of the most common categories of groceries.  I put thos in document protectors and put those and my baseball card sheets into my binder then I started putting my coupons in. I like this way because you can turn to a page in my binder and see the coupons and expiration dates right away. This is a fantastic method but I will warn you I went from a 1 inch binder to a 3 inch binder to now a 3 inch a 2 inch and a 1 1/2 inch binder. I take all three binders in when I go shopping. One binder is my food binder, one is my dry goods that are people oriented, and the last is dry goods that aren't people oriented.

Coupon Roundup

Albertsons is having what they call coupon roundup this week. Nope, it doesn't mean they want us to go out and try to rope and bulldog our coupons. What it means is that any coupon you have that is below 1.00 can be rounded up to 1.00. So if you have a coupon that is .25 off picante sauce this week it would make that coupon 1.00. Now the neat thing about this is combined with Albertsons save 5.00 when you buy 10 this could make for some great deal especially since there isnt a limit on how many coupons you can use.

This will also work at Walmart as they match competitors. A deal I found today is this. Carmex lip balm is on special right now for .98. I had coupons for .30 off. I told the cashier I wanted to do the round up deal. The cashier rounded up my coupon to the .98 and so all of my carmex was free.

This week

The best deal of the week is on Purina One Beyond dog food. If you buy the small bag at Walmart for 6.48 and use a coupon for 5.00 off you get a bag of fog food for 1.48.  Havent done much this week shopping wise. I was going to go try some today but we had snow.

Barbie for Cancer Patients

THis has nothing to do with couponing. But it is a subject close to my heart. My mom has terminal cancer, and when I was sick 17 years ago I was receiving treatment with kids that were going through chemo. This link will bring you to a petition to produce a bald barbie doll for little girls who have lost their hair from various causes mainly chemotherapy. I put my name to it because if there is a little something I can do to make those kids feel better about themselves I will. A child with cancer going through Chemo is a person who in my eyes is very strong and brave. They may cry because they feel sick but they drive on through it all. So I will do everything I can to help them.

Todays deals

Did some shopping today. I price matched trident gum and used a coupon and I purchased gum for .33 cents a pack(63 packs). I also got Nestle Quick powder for free (12 pouches). I got oral b floss(12) for free. 2 dishes of beneful prepared meals dog food free. 1 colgate toothbrush free. 1 Starkist tuna pouch for .08 cents. 2 six packs diet pepsi bottles $5.37. Overall a good shopping trip. Used price matching, doubling and coupons today. All of my coupons except the ones I got in the mail today are filed in my binders. I watched Extreme Couponing Challenge tonight. This episode had our local extreme couponer on so it was neat to watch.

Well folks it has been a crazy coupon week. We had 4 inserts (Proctor and Gamble, 2 smart source, Red plum and Albertsons doublers).  So I got 6 papers delivered, bought 4 in town and then 10 more from the store. So 20 papers later that 60 doublers, I got most of my coupons cut out I have been shopping 3 times and I still havent spent my food budget. I'm on a roll this month.  Some people think I'm crazy especially when I buy 20 tubes of toothpaste, but hey I know my family has a stockpile to fall back on.
